Raise your glass at St Paddy’s Day feast

Each guest can enjoy a free tasting of the new Irish whiskey, liqueur and cream liqueur at the event.

THE feast day of the Patron Saint of Ireland, St Patrick, is on Saturday, 17 March and the Irish South African Association will celebrate with a luncheon at the Durban Country Club from 12.30pm.

The Head of Consular Services at the Irish Embassy, Paul Evans, will attend and there will be traditional Irish music played by a live band put together by veteran local musos, Glenn and Andy Turrell.

There will also be Irish dancers who will entertain throughout the afternoon’s festivities, creating a true Emerald Isle feel.

The lunch will be preceded by a free tasting of the newly-launched Dubliner Irish Whiskey, the Dubliner Whiskey Liqueur, and Fennel’s Irish Cream Liqueur.

The Irish South African Association is established to cater for the local Irish community, and anyone with an affinity for the Irish culture and way of life.

While St Patrick’s Day is a highlight of the association’s annual calendar of events, the local chapter will host a quiz night at Woodcutter’s in Kloof on 8 May, and an AGM in November to elect the small committee that coordinates events.

Sporting and other Celtic get-togethers are also being planned.

Anyone may join the association by paying the modest annual subscription.

Contact the local ISAA secretary, Derek Griffin, via e-mail at members.dbn@ireland.co.za, or visit www.ireland.co.za.

Tickets for Saturday’s lunch are available through the ‘members’ e-mail address.
