A WESTVILLE family was left shaken after criminals tried to gain entry into their house in Jan Hofmeyer Road, in an attempt to escape police.
The four men had allegedly robbed another house just down the road.
A teenage girl and a 3-year-old were in the house when the incident occurred.

The older girl heard the dog barking and went to check what was happening.
Speaking about the traumatic ordeal, the teenager said, “I saw a man kicking the dog as it was biting his pants.
“I then heard a noise at the back, I quickly went to check and saw another man coming towards the door. He tried to open it but luckily I got there just in time and locked it.
She then took her younger sister and locked themselves in the bathroom.
“That is when I sent a voice note to alert our dad that there are people on the premises.”
In the voice notes, distraught Pastor Siyabonga Nzimande comforts his children and advises them to hide in the bathroom and lie on the floor for their safety as the police were already surrounding the scene and he could not get in.
After the nightmare, the children were taken out of the house safely by the police.
