The message directs interested parties to transfer R200 through various supermarkets. The municipality has released a warning for residents to not fall for this fraudulent act.

“People must note that municipal jobs are advertised in Metro Ezasegagasini, the Municipality-owned newspaper, and other reputable newspapers. Also, applicants are not required to pay any money to qualify for a position,” said deputy head of communication, Mandla Nsele.

Residents who receive this message are urged to report the matter to a nearest police station. Alternatively they can report to the Municipality’s City Integrity and Investigations Unit on 0800 202020.
