According to eThekwini head of communications, Tozi Mthethwa, the only thing happening at the flats is remedial/maintenance work in the form of the replacement of missing window panes, fixing and renewal of damaged window putty and stripping of old floor tiles.

When asked if there are any developments to take place on the property in addition to the existing building, the city revealed that a building plan application for additions and alterations has been submitted.

“The application has been submitted to the Local Authority for consideration for the approval in terms of the National Building Regulations, which is currently on circulation to the various departments for input,” said Mthethwa.

She also mentioned that no new work in line with the aforementioned has begun, and the property will be monitored regularly to ensure compliance with legislation.
