Robin Hood loves the babies

The new mums get very excited when they look through the big hampers filled with pre-loved baby clothes, blankets and toys.

THE Robin Hood Foundation (RHF) recently visited new mums at St Mary’s Hospital Maternity Ward to bless them with generous donations from the community. Co-ordinator of The Robin Hood Foundation, Kim Griffith Jones, said the Love the Babies campaign is essentially a ‘baby shower in a bag’.

“This project stemmed from the small seed of thought that Cindy Norcott, our chairman, had to ‘give back’ that started the foundation more than 12 years ago.

“It is incredible to see these new mums very excited as they look through the big hampers filled with pre-loved baby clothes, blankets and toys that have been generously donated by the mums in our community.

“Most of these mums have nothing for their newborns and our volunteers get to interact and share advice and love with the new mums, dress the little ones and swaddle them in their very first blankets,” said Kim.

Heather Niven from Phrog Designs said, “What a truly beautiful experience we had collaborating with The Robin Hood Foundation, Flynn Jaxon and Bam and Boo on this particular visit.

“Phrog is officially one of RHF’s newest drop-off points for RHF’s Love the Babies projects. We are based in Maytime Centre in Kloof and we are so grateful to all who donated towards this visit to bless these new mums and their little ones and hope to encourage more community support so we can continue to support this cause,” said Niven.
