Road closures for the Amashova Cycle race

Motorists are urged to take not of the road closures in the Highway area.

CYCLISTS will take to the roads this Sunday, 22 October for the Amashova Durban Classic.

The route for the 106km, 65km and 35km road races is completely closed to traffic.

The 2017 road closure times:

Chief Albert Luthuli St to Alexandra Road – 4am to 10am
Alexandra Road to Umlaas Road – 5am to noon
Umlaas Road to R103 Inchanga/1000 Hills – 4.30am to 12.45pm
103 Inchanga to Botha’s Hill Butchery – 4am to 2pm
R103 Patna Road to Kassier Road/M13 on ramp – 4am to 2pm
M13 Hillcrest to M13 Westville – 4am to 3pm
M13 Westville to M13 45th Cutting – 4am to 3pm
N3 Outbound to Monty Naicker Street – 5am to 3.30pm
Monty Naicker Street (Pine Street) – 4am to 3.45pm
Masabalala Yengwa Avenue (North Bound) – 4am to 4pm

There are five cut-off points along the 106km route. If cyclists do not make it to a point by the cut-off time their bicycle will be put onto a bakkie and they will be transported in a bus to the finish line of the race. The cut-off times are the same for the 35km and 65km.

First cut-off – Inchanga Caravan Park (45.5kms into the race) – 12.15pm

Second cut-off – Outside the Butchery on Botha’s Hill (60.2kms into the race) – 1pm

Third cut-off – Kassier Road, just before the onramp onto the M13 (67kms into the race) – 1.30pm

Fourth cut-off – At exit 17 Pinetown, Queensburgh, St Johns Ave on the M13 (82.5kms into the race) – 2pm

Fifth cut-off – 45th Cutting, under the bridge just before you reach the N3 off-ramp (91.2kms into the race) – 2.30pm

Final cut-off – Finish line – 3pm
