A Malvern policewoman who allegedly threatened to kill her station commander, Col Valerie Reddy, and fired a shot at police officers who tried to confront her, was granted bail on Monday, 2 October.
Sergeant Lana Oosthuizen paid bail of R3 000 after appearing in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court.

Provincial SAPS confirmed the arrest of the 35-year-old police officer.
“She was arrested for attempted murder, pointing of a firearm and discharging of a firearm. Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) has been informed about the case,” said police spokesperson, Col Thembeka Mbhele.
It is alleged Oosthuizen had a dispute with Reddy at the Malvern police station on Thursday, 28 September.

It is alleged she pointed her service pistol at Reddy who then screamed for help.
Oosthuizen was recently a hero for the station when she managed to extinguish a fire that started outside the station and Reddy praised Oosthuizen for her swift efforts.
