National tourney a hit with karate students

THE Association of Funakoshi Shotokan Karate South Africa held it’s annual National Karate Tournament at Shastri Park Community Hall recently.

Students from the various dojos throughout KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng from as young as four years old displayed their karate talent and kept the large gathering of spectators thrilled throughout the day with their excellent performance.

Kyoshi Selvan Govender (7th Dan), president and chief instructor of the association said that the large attendance of parents and supporters showed their commitment to the association.

He also expressed his gratitude to all parents that have contributed in making this special day possible for the karatekas and thanked all senseis for preparing their students for this tournament.
