Rock the boat this Sunday at Blue Lagoon

Hobbyist Built scale models of water crafts that can reach 90km per hour.

THIS Sunday Durban Radio Boat Club enthusiasts will take to the water for their annual open day. The boat operators will be on the south bank of the Umgeni River at the Blue Lagoon pond. Activities kick off at 9.30am.

DRBC Secretary, Bruce Schnell said: “Come down and see how the scale model replicas including warships , tugs or even submarines are built and operated or try your hand at model yacht racing, or watch the high performance power vessels reach speeds of 90km/hr. The DRBC is the only club in Durban that caters for radio controlled sailing, scale models and power boats.”

What’s more there is a wide variety of bird life on the pond and on the islands in the river which makes for excellent bird spotting. Schnell added the catergories of the club are scale model, sailing and power.
