Man shoots woman, turns gun on himself in Hammarsdale shopping centre shootout

Mpumalanga SAPS are investigating charges of attempted murder and inquest.

CHARGES of attempted murder and inquest are being investigated by Mpumalanga SAPS following a shooting at a clothing store at Hammarsdale Junction on Saturday, 26 August at 9.15am.

Captain Nqobile Gwala, said a 21-year-old woman was shot and injured by a known suspect who also turned a gun on himself.

Circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated.

Nick Dollman, media liaison for Netcare Limited, said, Netcare 911 received reports of a shooting at a clothing store in a shopping centre in Hammarsdale. They responded as well as paramedics from EMRS, police and security.

“Reports from the scene indicated that a woman in her 20s had been shot more than once. Her injuries were serious and she was attended to by an Advanced Life Support paramedic and stabilised before being transported by EMRS to hospital,” said Dollman.

He added a man in his 20s, had also been shot and tragically died at the scene.
