Kearsney celebrates 2-0 win against Hilton

THE annual Kearsney-Hilton soccer fixture kicked off at Hilton in chilly wintery conditions on Saturday.

Kearsney dominated possession and territory from the start and were rewarded with a penalty after a Hilton defender handled in the box. Keanan Naidoo converted to give Kearsney a 1-0 lead.

Kearsney doubled their advantage soon afterwards, when Rory Bloy tapped in from close range for a Keanan Naidoo cross.

Hilton pressed in the second half, but the Kearsney defense, led by Kuhle Bophela, held firm for Kearsney to win 2-0.

Hockey dinner awards

Kearsney College’s annual end of season hockey dinner also took place at the weekend. Dane Mertsch won the most improved player award and Keanan Naidoo was awarded the players’ player of the year.
