The Grammy award-winning Ladysmith Black Mambazo will also perform at the local fund-raiser.

THE Rotary Club of Kloof will again hold the family-friendly Festival in The Hills 2017 and this year will feature the multiple Grammy award-winning Ladysmith Black Mambazo.

The event, hosted by Curro Hillcrest Christian Academy, is on Saturday, 26 August. Joining the Grammy winners is the newly formed Drakondale Girls’ Choir School from Howick.

Artistic director of the event and the conductor of the Drakondale Girls’ Choir School, Judith Hawthorn, will conduct the massed choirs. With the support of the Rotary Club of Kloof, the learners from Lamula Primary School in Molweni will also join in on the singing and excitement of the day. “This is an incredible experience for these youngsters to perform in the awe-inspiring City Hill auditorium as well as to rub shoulders with international stars Ladysmith Black Mambazo,” said Judith.

“Bringing underprivileged children to this event is a powerful catalyst for them. They get to understand a world outside of their own small community, they are motivated to work hard and to aspire to reach their full potential.

All proceeds from Festival in the Hills go to The Rotary Club of Kloof to further their projects.

The event is free and open to the public. The Opening Parade starts at 9am. Bookings for the main performance must be done through Computicket. Visit www.festivalinthehills.co.za
