Hanna nets her sporting dreams

St Mary's DSG's high school SPAR Star of the Month - June 2017.

HANNA Alexander is a gifted sportswoman and was chosen as St Mary’s DSG’s high school SPAR Star of the Month,

The Grade 9 learner recently took part in the Africa Judo Cadet Championships in Cairo, Egypt, and grabbed fifth place in her individual division and bronze in the team events as part of the South Africa Cadet Female Team.

Hanna was also recently selected to play in the U15 South African action netball invitational team in the Junior World Series Tournament in Fourways in July. She was also nominated as the vice-captain for the team. Hanna plays both indoor and outdoor hockey for St Mary’s and is currently a part of the U16A hockey team. Last year, the hockey enthusiast travelled to Cape Town to take part in the Pro Series Indoor (PSI) hockey tournament.

Hanna started playing outdoor netball and judo when she was in Grade 1 and indoor netball in Grade 4. Hanna’s dream, from Grade 1, was to represent South Africa in two different sports and this year she would have achieved that. Hanna enjoys art when she has spare time and is an altar server at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Kloof. After school Hanna aims to study medicine as she wants to help others.
