Westville have to settle for draw

The boys came out guns blazing in the second half.

AFTER a slow start for the WBHS 1st XI football team, and an error in defense, Michaelhouse opened the scoring with their striker latching on to the ball and dispatching it into the top right hand corner of the goal.

After some persistent pressure from Westville, centre midfielder, Ryan Way, lobbed the ball over the Michaelhouse defense and Westville striker, Ethan Knott made a good direct run in to the opposition box to flick a header to the bottom left goal corner, equalising the scoreline.

The boys came out guns blazing in the second half and after some beautiful intricate play, Njabulo Zuma sprayed the ball wide and found Reece Nyland who made an intelligent over-lapping run. Reece then crossed the ball and found Ryan Way, whose deft touch found the bottom left corner of Michaelhouse’s net.

A great display of team work and build-up play that started with Robert Delport in the midfield.

With two minutes to go, Michaelhouse had a counter attack from a Westville corner, and their most attacking midfielder was brought down just outside the Westville box.

The free kick was floated above our wall and was slotted away by a questionable off-side player.

The game ended in a draw 2-2.
