Troy revvs his way to junior colours

Hillcrest Primary School's SPAR Star of the Month - June 2017.

TROY Muraour was recently selected as Hillcrest Primary School’s SPAR Star of the Month.

He started motocross racing when he was eight years old and during his first year almost grabbed a win in the KZN 50 CC Championship, but due to a broken arm he missed out on two rounds of the championship and was a few points too short.

The following year a serious crash saw him missing out on three rounds on his 65cc bike but he came back strong in the latter part of the year and won all of his KZN races.

In 2016 he started off well and found himself competing in the top five nationally, the level where Motor Sport South Africa base its team selection from.

A team of five South African 65cc riders were chosen to travel to Kenya to compete at the Motocross of African Nations. Unfortunately only two were able to go, so Troy’s class was three members short and as this was a team event, all of the rider’s scores added would determine the class win. Troy and his team mate from Johannesburg grabbed all the points and won the overall for South Africa.

Troy finished the event with a good second overall and he was awarded his junior national colours for his podium finish.
