Dagga worth R100 000 recovered

A Luger pistol with nine live rounds was also recovered during the operation.

AN intelligence driven operation done by Pinetown Crime Intelligence with the Provincial Trio Task Team in the early hours of Friday morning resulted in the arrest of two men for possession of an unlicensed firearm and dagga.

Pinetown SAPS communications officer, Capt Bongumusa Manqele, said the first man (38) was found in possession of a Luger pistol with nine live rounds in the Entukusweni area, near Cato Ridge.

The firearm will be send for ballistic tests to determine if it was used in the commission of other crimes in the country.

“Police proceeded to another homestead also in the area of Entukusweni where the second man was found in possession of one and half bags of dagga and 50 slopes with a street value of about R100 000,” said Manqele.
