Deejays to mix it up at ultimate Ushaka battle

Deejays will be judged on their hosting abilities, mixing performance, music choices, crowd reaction and very importantly, technical ability.

USHAKA Marine world brings you the first preliminary round of Amplified Vibez, the ultimate DJ battle, due to blast off at Wahooz on the Promenade on Saturday, 17 June.

They are looking for aspiring deejays to audition and mix their way into standing a chance of winning a working contract at uShaka Marine World, an awesome opportunity to play at some of uShaka’s top gigs.

This competition is only open to aspiring deejays and not those already established in the industry.

DJ’s have from now until Saturday, 10 June to register for this competition by inboxing uShaka’s Facebook page.

Each Saturday, a select number of deejays will be notified and given the opportunity to wow the judges and crowds with a 30 minute performance slot each between 11am and 6pm on the following respective dates – 17 and 24 June and 8 and 15 July.

Entry to the prelim competition and for the public to support is free. Those who make it through, will perform at the finals which will take place on Saturday, 29 July  from 2pm until 8pm. Tickets for the public to enter the final event will cost just R50 per person through Computicket or uShaka ticketing.

The top DJ’s who crack it at the finals, will be awarded working contracts.

To top it all off, each of the finalists will have their video clip performances posted on uShaka Marine World’s Facebook page, Twitter and Instagram after the preliminary rounds. Finalists will then have the opportunity to garner likes and shares from their supporters from 17 July until 28 July. The more likes and shares, the better your chances of winning.

“We are thrilled to announce that we will be running our first ever DJ battle at uShaka Marine World. We have always been proud of our commitment to providing opportunities for all types of local talent, having initiated and run Search for the Stars and the Zulu Dance Championships successfully for a number of years now,” said Marketing Executive Mpume Mthembu.

“This first time event will now provide an opportunity for a different type of talent and one we are very excited to be hosting,” she added.

Deejays will be judged on their hosting abilities, mixing performance, music choices, crowd reaction and very importantly, technical ability as well as support given by fans on uShaka’s social media pages.

All aspiring deejays are required to bring their USB/CD with music and headphones, but technical requirements such as PA, and mixer will be provided by uShaka Marine World.

Deejays are required to pre-register for the competition by inboxing the uShaka Marine World Facebook page. Competition format and rules will be posted on the uShaka website.
