Elderly women injured in two separate accidents

Both women were seriously injured and paramedics had to use advanced life support interventions.

TWO pedestrians were critically injured when they were hit by cars in two separate accidents yesterday.

One accident was reported on the Richmond Road Bridge over the N3 in Pinetown involving a woman, believed to be in her 60s.

According to ER24 spokesman, Russel Meiring, the woman was found lying in the middle of the road.

“Paramedics assessed the woman and found that she sustained numerous injuries and was in a critical condition.

“She was treated and provided with advanced life support interventions,” said Meiring.

In another incident, a woman, believed to be in her 50s, was also seriously injured when she was hit by a car on the M13 in Westville.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the woman lying in the centre median.

“The light motor vehicle stopped about 20 metres away. Paramedics immediately assessed the woman and found that she was in a serious condition. Treatment and advanced life support interventions were immediately initiated in an effort to stabilise her vital signs.”

Both drivers were not injured during the incidents.
