Biancalani’s love shines bright for five decades

Rossano and Diana Biancalani celebrates their golden anniversary.

WATERFALL resident, Rossano Biancalani knew from the first moment he laid his eyes on Diana that she was the one for him.

That spark that was formed when they first met, still shines bright after 50 years of marriage.

Rossano and Diana were married at the St Joseph Catholic Church in Durban on 19 April 1967. Diana said they met through Rossano’s friend and it was love at first sight.

“His friend was definitely a good matchmaker. We dated for five years before we got married.”

When asked what she liked about Rossano she said he was a very caring man, raised by a strict family and the most important person in his life was his mother.

“His Italian accent was definitely a bonus, my father also liked him a lot as Italians saved him and other soldiers during a war,” said Diana.

Rossano said Diana is a loving woman and they have many things in common.

“We love being together, we travel a lot and we use to participate in a variety of sport.”

Rossano has a black belt in karate.

The couple who have two children and three grandchildren said faith has been at the centre of their lives. “God guides us in everything that we do.”

They advised young people to talk about their issues.

“Couples do argue from time to time, but with communication and respect, people can have a happy, lasting relationship,” said Roassano.

The Biancalani spent their 50th anniversary at the Drakensburg Mountains where they had their honeymoon.

“It is such a peaceful place and we love taking long walks and exploring nature,” said Diana.
