Malvern family survives horrific home invasion

The suspects made the victims lie on the floor and tied them up.

A MALVERN resident was attacked when she went out of the house to fetch something from her car last week Friday, 24 March.

“As she went back into her house she was accosted by three armed men,” said W/O Radhika Marimuthu, communications officer for Malvern SAPS.

Marimuthu said that the armed suspects pushed her into the house where they encountered her mother.

“They then made them lie on the floor and tore pieces of towels to tie them up. When the mother screamed one of the suspects assaulted her,” said Marimuthu.

It is alleged that the suspects then shoved them into a room while they moved through the property searching for valuables.

Fortunately, the mother pushed the panic button in the room. “The noise distracted them and the suspects fled with cash, cellphones and a laptop,” added Marimuthu.

A case of house robbery has been registered and is being investigated. Anyone with information relating to this case can call Malvern SAPS House Breaking Unit on 031 4899631/ 4899629/4899624.
