R20 000 reward for safe return of abducted Durban baby

Police are still looking for the missing baby abducted in a hijacking in Durban earlier today.

THE missing one-month-old baby girl had on a white long sleeve vest and a nappy.  The child was taken in a hijacking earlier today from Stamford Hill in Durban.

The car hijacked from City View Shopping centre in Durban earlier today was found after it had been abandoned in Montclair. The one-month-old baby that was abducted in the hijacking is still missing according to Berea Mail.

Two suspects reportedly approached a woman who was walking with her eight-year-old daughter and the baby when she was accosted. The two suspects then hijacked the vehicle, a white Toyota Yaris ND 578 648  and fled with the baby.

Social media platforms have been on fire all afternoon as the image of the fleeing vehicle and news of the hijacking was shared by users.

In the latest update it was reported that the vehicle had been found abandoned in Montlcair, but no sign of the baby was evident.

 

The vehicle was recovered earlier today, however there was no sign of te baby.

 

The child’s car seat, the pram as well other baby items were also missing from the vehicle.

Reaction Unit South Africa is requesting assistance from the public to locate the baby.
The RUSA Robinson R44 helicopter took off earlirt from Verulam to assist in the search.
There is a R20 000 reward offered for the safe return of the baby.
