During this weekend’s cricket fixtures against Northwood High School, three young men excelled with the bat.

IT’S not often that a boy walks off the oval on a Saturday having scored 137 runs and it is not the highest score for his school on the day.

Jesse Vorster scored 107 runs off just 35 balls for the U14B, helping his team reach a mammoth total of 330/8 in their allotted 30 overs.

The second centurion was Sam Gervasoni, who helped the 1st XI secure an impressive 6 wicket win, with 125 off 130 balls.

Despite these impressive feats, Ethan Matkovich stole the show on the day, scoring a mammoth 199 off 137 balls for the U15A.

His innings consisted of 13 6s and 17 4s.

Chasing 200, he was run out on the last ball of the innings with a direct hit from the Northwood wicket keeper.
