Moseley clean-up unites community

The overgrown bushes at the station were becoming a haven for criminals.

MEMBERS of the Moseley Neighbourhood Watch (MNW) together with the eThekwini Parks Department cleared the overgrown bushes and cut down trees during a clean-up on Saturday, 11 February at the Moseley station.

NHW members, Naresh Singh, Tyron Peters Newman, Mark Swan and Gareth Preen.

MNW communicator, Mark Swan said the overgrown area was a hot spot for muggings and theft for innocent people who commute by train.

“Unfortunately Metro rail do not clean often enough which is the reason we have taken it upon ourselves to make the area clean and safer for residents to use.”

Ward 63 councillor, Chris van den Berg and NHW chairman, Corne Momberg also joined the clean-up.

Ward councillor, Chris van den Berg also participated in the clean-up. Van Den Berg said this was the Moseley Neighbourhood Watch initiative and he fully supported it.

“My role was to get eThekwini Parks Department involved. I really think this was a great idea as it will keep people who use this station safe from the criminals who prey on them and residents can be surrounded by a clean environment,” said the councillor.
