Taxi crashes into wall in Westmead

Six people were injured when a taxi crashed into the bakkie

SIX people were injured this morning when a taxi t-boned a bakkie and crashed into a wall on Umdoni Crescent, Westmead. Paramedics found the bakkie lying on its side against the wall while the taxi was next to the bakkie, partially through a wall.

ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring said the occupants were extricated by the workers from the building.

“Six people were injured with one sustaining serious injuries.”

Meiring said it is believed the driver of the taxi allegedly lost control of his vehicle while driving down the road.

“The taxi went over the median and crashed into the bakkie, pushing it down the embankment and into the wall,” he said.

The patients were treated at the scene before being taken to RK Khan Hospital.

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
