PATROLLERS from Pro Act Neighbourhood Watch swiftly arrested a man who entered an abandoned house on Leeds Crescent in Pinetown this morning.
According to community activist, Andreas Mathios, the man was picked up on hidden intelligence survelliance cameras on Leeds Crescent.
He was seen entering an abandoned property through the rear-end of the house and was rummaging through the sheds at the back of the property.
The property in question has been an eyesore in the community for a while now and has previously been addressed at CPF meetings.
The survelliance cameras picked up movement at the property. By then, the man started leaping over four fences before he was arrested by Mathios and a member of the Pro Act Neighbourhood Watch and ADT Security.
“This is an indication of some of the incidents that have been occurring throughout the neighbourhoods where criminals have been seen stealing gate battery motors, entering vacant properties that have been abandoned by owners,” said Mathios.
The Pinetown SAPS were alerted and they arrested the man for attempted housebreaking, malicious damage to property as well as trespassing.
