AUDIO: One cuffed in Cowies Hill shooting

The Dog Unit is currently searching for the second robber who is on the run in the New Germany Nature Reserve.

POLICE have made an arrest after a five-hour manhunt for two armed men allegedly responsible for a shooting in Cowies Hill earlier this morning. Community activist, Andreas Mathios, said a house-breaking in Cowies Hill went viral on social media this morning.

According to reports, robbers began to fence-hop in the area. A Jag Security officer gave chase and as he was about to make an arrest when one robber fired a shot at him.

Both robbers started jumping walls and running in different directions to confuse police who were by this time tracking them down.

“Neighbourhood watches mobilised from all areas to join the chase and cordoned off the area. One man was arrested on Otto Volek Road, near the New Germany Nature Reserve, after a five-hour manhunt. The second robber is still on the run and the Dog Unit is still tracking him,” said Mathios.

The arrested man was taken to the Pinetown SAPS.
