Lambie to lead the Cell C Sharks in 2017

CELL C Sharks flyhalf Patrick Lambie, will captain the Cell C Sharks during the 2017 Vodacom Super Rugby tournament.

This proud KwaZulu-Natal player is well-known for being astute and level-headed, and having the innate ability to remain calm and composed under pressure. He, together with the other senior players in the team, will provide great mentorship and support to a young and highly talented Cell C Sharks squad.

Following the announcement, Cell C Sharks Head Coach Robert du Preez, said: “Pat’s talent, temperament and outstanding character makes him an automatic choice. He’s a natural leader, who provides great inspiration and motivation for our young players and he has all the qualities needed to be a great captain.”

Du Preez said Lambie has supported this team all his life and understands its unique culture, which has been built on the emphasis of a strong work ethic.

Commenting on his appointment, Patrick Lambie, said: “It is a huge honour for me to again captain the Cell C Sharks. I would like to thank our management for affording me the honour of leading a relatively young, but exciting and talented team.”
