Pavilion donates R12 000 shopping vouchers to children’s home

Each year, the Pavilion Shopping Centre looks at donating to a worthy charity and this year they wanted to give to less fortunate children in the city.

SAINT Martins children’s home in Glenwood recently received a little more festive cheer from Pavilion Shopping Centre, with a donation of R12 000 in shopping vouchers to the home.

The home, which was founded in 1897, is one of the longest serving children’s homes in South Africa, where it cares for the needs of more than 75 abused, and orphaned, abandoned and neglected children. They provide an essential and important service in the lives of the children who reside there as well as outreach projects that help children in need.

The St Martins team certainly does great work and overcome countless obstacles on a daily basis. Their pay off line – “in a world full of people who couldn’t care less, be somebody who couldn’t care more” –  certainly is something to remember and act on.

Each year, the Pavilion looks at donating to a worthy charity and this year they wanted to give to less fortunate children in the city. St Martins was the specific home chosen after one of the centre’s tenants were alerted to St Martins’ plight. Through their donation they hope to make a difference in some way to these children.

“We are delighted to have been able to assist St Martins by giving something to provide some cheer to the children that reside there,” said Pavilion’s general manager, Nisha Kemraj.
