Three armed men fled with the scene with the R42 000.

A MAN was robbed of the R42 000 he had drawn at a bank in Church Road, Westville yesterday, (Tuesday, 11 January). According to KZN police spokesperson, Col Thembeka Mbhele, the man went to the bank in Church Road to withdraw money.

“When he left the bank and returned to his vehicle, he was allegedly approached by three men who pointed firearms at him demanding the money which they took and fled in a getaway vehicle. No shots were fired and no one was injured,” said Mbhele.

A case of armed robbery was opened at the Westville Police Station.

Police appeal to anyone who might have information about the whereabouts of the men to contact any local police station or call the Crime Stop number on 086 0010 111.

KwaZulu-Natal acting provincial commissioner, Major General Bheki Langa again warned people not to withdraw large amount of cash.

“People may use other safe transaction methods rather than to withdraw large amount of cash. Always beware of suspicious-looking people who might attack and rob you when you carry cash,” he said.
