Firefighters warm children’s hearts

eThekwini Fire held its annual Christmas party for children from the Siyajabula Orphanage in Molweni.

ETHEKWINI Fire hosted a Christmas party for children from the Siyajabula Orphanage in Molweni on Wednesday, 14 December.

According to Dennis Govender, the divisional commander, the firefighters and officers at eThekwini Fire and Emergency believe its their social responsibility to host a party for the underprivileged children and have been doing so for the past six years.

“We identify different orphanages every year and treat them to a full splash for the day. Sponsors have also played a huge role in making this event a huge success,” said Govender.

The 39 children received food from Spur Sandy Centre and enjoyed playing on the inflatables and training foam supplied by eThekwini Fire, before Father Christmas arrived in a fire engine and distributed gifts to each child. After an exciting day out, the children were transported back to their home later that afternoon.

eThekwini Fire thanked its sponsors, Spur Sandy Centre, Boxer Pinetown, Rob Roy in Botha’s Hill, Rainbow Inflatables and Little Green Beverages in Pinetown.
