Tribute to Rodriguez
The Reals will host a tribute show to the great Rodriguez at Rhumbelow Theatre.
RHUMBELOW Theatre in Umbilo presents Cold Fact – Rodriguez, with Barry Thomson and The Reals from Friday 2 to Sunday 4 December.
Who would know that an unknown album from an unknown artist in 1970 (Rodriguez) would become a huge phenomenon in South Africa. Rodriguez himself was never aware of his huge success, as well as most other Americans. His music was lost in the US but, by a strange coincidence becames a cult hit in South Africa and a symbol of rebellion for the underground white, anti-apartheid sub-culture.
The show, featuring Barry Thomson, Dawn Selby, Mali Sewell and Jason Andrew, will include all his well-remembered songs such as I Wonder, Establishment Blues and Sugar Man, among others.
Venue opens before the show, take food picnic baskets and braais will be available should you wish to cook some meat.
Tickets are R140 or R120 for pensioners and block bookings of eight or more.
