16-year-old boy bullied outside school

The bullying incident is being investigated by the school and Malvern SAPS.

A SHOCKING video of a pupil from Werda Skool in Malvern, Queensburgh, being bullied has gone viral on social media.

The incident seemed to have occurred out of school. In the video, the 13-year-old boy is approached by the bully who smacks him until he falls to the ground. The bully accuses the victim of “snitching” on him and for making him serve detention.

The victim begs the bully to leave him alone, but he is grabbed and picked up from the ground again, punched, pushed down to the ground again, kicked and threatened to be hospitalised the next time he tries to “snitch”on him. The bully also uses vulgar language.

A staff member at the school confirmed the incident by saying the case is being investigated but they refused to comment any further.

The victim’s sister posted a message on social media. She wrote: “He was beaten because he “snitched” on this other child for bringing a knife to school… I am absolutely horrified!” She added, “No severe injuries. No marks or visible bruising. He is shaken up but is so overwhelmed by the response [and support he is getting], and is thankful to u all.”
However, the claim regarding the knife is unconfirmed at this stage.

W/O Radhika Marimuthu of Malvern SAPS said the family had opened a charge against the bully.

This bullying incident follows the brutal attack on Aldane Chetty (18) of Wingen Heights Secondary School in Chatsworth.

It is alleged that Aldane was approached by a group of six boys, one of whom hit him with the pipe, causing him to suffer two seizures and an open wound on his head. Aldane didn’t retaliate and walked to the office to seek help. As he entered the reception area, he collapsed before suffering two seizures. After the paramedics treated him, he was rushed to hospital and admitted in ICU.  The pupil charged was charged for attempted murder and is currently facing a disciplinary hearing at school.

NOTE: This video was removed due to the Code of Ethics and Conduct for South African Print and Online Media specifically, Section 8.1.3 which states, “(media shall) not identify children who have been victims of abuse, exploitation, or who have been charged with or convicted of a crime, without the consent of their legal guardians (or similarly responsible adult) and the child (taking into consideration the evolving capacity of child), a public interest is evident and it is in the best interests of the child.”
