Father sentenced to 18 years imprisonment for rape

The incident took place in 2013 when the victim was seven-years-old.

THE Pinetown Regional Court convicted and sentenced a 44-year-old father to 18 years imprisonment for rape.

The incident occurred in 2013 when the seven-year-old victim was at the KwaBhontshisi Informal Settlement in Wyebank.

According to Pinetown SAPS communications officer, Capt Bongumusa Manqele, the victim was playing with her friends when she was called by her biological father into the house where he raped her.

“The victim reported the incident to her mother and her aunt. A case of rape was opened at the Pinetown police station and the docket was transferred to Pinetown Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit for investigation that led to the arrest of the man,” said Manqele.

The accused made numerous court appearances before he was convicted and sentenced.
