Two men held for possession of stolen property

The truck was hijacked in Richmond last night.

MEMBERS of the Pinetown Task Team arrested two men aged 29 and 42 for possession of suspected stolen property on Tuesday, 16 August, around 6.20am.

According to Pinetown SAPS spokesman, Capt Bongumusa Manqele, members received information about these men who were in possession of a hijacked truck in 8th Avenue in Clermont. Upon arrival at the scene police arrested the men and seized the truck. “Initial investigations revealed that the truck was hijacked in Richmond last night. Police found soaps, Dettol and Pampers inside the truck and it is believed that the rest of the items were offloaded in the Inchanga area. The value of the stolen items is estimated at R250 000,” said Manqele.

The men were charged for possession of suspected stolen property and are expected to appear in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court soon.
