Sick child needs a place to stay

To be included in the transplant waiting list, Malwande needs a decent place to stay.

A BOY from Vryheid, Malwande Sangweni (5) who suffers from a liver disease, needs to find a place to stay in the Upper Highway area.

His parents were told that Malwande needs to stay in a clean place with running water, electricity and flushing toilet to be included on the waiting list for a liver transplant.

Malwande lives with his mom in Vryheid and was transferred to a hospital in Durban. His father, Innocent Madida, who works in Waterfall, said the boy’s condition was getting worse as he was growing up.

Malwande’s mom, Nokubonga Sangweni, said because of his sickness, they spent most of the time in hospitals as he had been ill since he was born.

“It started with yellow eyes, swollen stomach, his skin is dry and itchy and he scratches himself all the time,” said Nokubonga.

Malwande was supposed to start Grade R this year but could not, as last year in October, he lost the use of his legs.

“He can’t walk and he tells me all the time that he wants to walk again,” said his Mom.

Malwande’s Dad’s employer, Andy van den Heuvel, has appealed to anyone who has a room or cottage which meets the doctor’s requirements to assist the family.

“Innocent works for my company in Waterfall and a place in the Upper Highway area will be ideal for everyone.

“I will pay the rent for them,” he said.

Anyone who can assist can contact Andy on 083 225 9820.
