Quick arrests at fast food outlet

A TEAM of quick thinking armed response security officers burst in on an armed robbery and arrested three men who were holding up staff at fast food outlet in Malvern on Sunday evening, 3 July. Blue Security operations manager Brian Jackson said a member of the public had alerted one of the officers to an armed robbery in progress at the outlet in Main Road in Malvern at around 11pm.

“He immediately responded to the scene, together with a backup vehicle, where they found a gang of three men, one of them armed with a firearm, holding up the staff. One of the suspects had pretended to be a customer and was standing in front of the counter while the other two men were standing behind the counter. The gang fled when our officers burst in and attempted to hide on the property,” he said.

The officers arrested the three robbers on the premises and according to Jackson, no shots were fired and no injuries were reported. A getaway vehicle that had been parked outside fled the scene. Jackson commended the officers’ quick response to the crime scene and the member of the public for sounding the alarm.

“We commend the excellent work of our officers who responded swiftly to the scene. Despite being outnumbered they managed to take control of the situation and arrested all three alleged robbers. It’s only by working together with the community that we can make a difference in the fight against crime and send the strong message that criminal activity will not be tolerated,” he said.

The fast food outlet had not responded to requests for comment at the time of going to press.
