Biker seriously injured in Hillcrest crash

A BIKER is fighting for his life after his motorcycle slammed into the side of a Fortuna along Old Main Road in Hillcrest earlier today (Thursday, 30 June, around 9.52am).

According to Chris Botha, spokesman for Netcare 911, paramedics arrived at the scene and found the roadway obstructed with accident debris and the twisted frame of the bike and the SUV.

“The biker was found lying on the ground with life-threatening injuries. Medics worked fervently at the scene to stabilise the man. After they placed him on a manual ventilator, they immobilised him on a trauma board. He was then transported to a specialised hospital,” said Botha.

He added that the SAPS was on scene and will investigate the cause of the crash.
