Abegail awarded domestic worker of the month

The next domestic training workshop will be held on Wednesday, 6 July at 9 am at Hirsch’s Hillcrest Branch.

DOMESTIC workers recently attended a free monthly domestic training course at Hirsch’s Hillcrest branch.

The course was on how to clean freezers and fridges and how to use various functions with a pressure cooker, and the cleaning method to use when cleaning a stove.

Abegail Zondi was announced the domestic worker of the month. “Abegail deserves a lifetime award not just a month or year. We have no doubt that there are times she wishes her name was not Abegail, because there is always someone in the household asking “Abs where’s this and that,” and no doubt she knows where it is.

“She has been with us for the past 16 years and during this time has empowered herself by getting her driver’s licence, learnt to cook like a Michelin chef, by doing cooking courses with Vicky Martins.

“She is a part of the family and is invaluable to us, not only has she bought up her own three children, of which one is only a-year-old, but she has assisted us in raising our three children as her own.

“It is said that no one person is dispensable, well Abegail has proved that theory to be wrong, we would d be lost without her,” said employee, Elaine Harris.

The next domestic training workshop will be held on Wednesday, 6 July at 9 am at Hirsch’s Hillcrest Branch. To RSVP, contact Hirsch’s Hillcrest PRO, Taryn Taylor on 031 761 7500 or e-mail tarynt@hirschs.co.za.
