Hillcrest law graduate dies in Grahamstown fire
Wesley Day's memorial service will be held on Thursday, 9 June.
A RHODES University law graduate was killed when a fire broke out in a communal house he shared with other students in Grahamstown.
Wesley Day (22) from Hillcrest died last Thursday while trying to escape from a burning house. According to reports, four other students escaped the midnight blaze unharmed with only the clothes they were wearing.
A memorial service for Wesley will be held in the Victoria Hall, Maritzburg College on Thursday, 9 June at 3.30pm. The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage.
Catherine Deiner, Rhodes University media relations officer, said, “There will be a memorial in Hillcrest at the end of the week, and another will be held at Rhodes next term.”
Wesley’s father, Trevor Day, posted a picture on Facebook in memory of his son. These were some of the condolences:
