Truck and cars collide, injuring six in New Germany

The driver of the truck was also apparently assaulted by community members for allegedly causing the collision.

SIX people were injured this morning after a light motor vehicle and bakkie collided with a truck on the Dinkleman Highway in New Germany.

When ER24 paramedics arrived on the accident scene, all three vehicles were parked on the side of the road and a large group of community members had gathered around the scene.

Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesman, said, “On inspection, paramedics found that five occupants from the bakkie, including two children believed to be aged four and 15, and the driver of the truck had all sustained minor injuries.”

Fortunately, there were no serious or fatal injuries.

The driver of the truck was also apparently assaulted by community members for allegedly causing the collision.

Paramedics treated the injured and thereafter transported them to various hospitals.

“It is believed that the light motor vehicle and bakkie collided with the truck after the driver attempted a U-turn in the road,” said Meiring.

Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
