Couple hijacked in Pinetown

No one has been arrested yet and a case of hijacking was was opened at Pinetown SAPS.

A COUPLE was held up by hijackers in Blair Road, Pinetown while they were while their car was being inspected for a repair quote on Friday morning.

According to Blue Security operations manager, Brian Jackson, the couple had arrived at a motor vehicle repair company in Blair Road.

“Three men, two armed with guns, forced the representative and the customer who was standing outside the vehicle to lie on the floor. They robbed the customer of his watch and forced the wife out of the vehicle. The hijackers fled in the car with the couple’s cellphones, valuables and a handbag,” he said.

Pinetown SAPS communications officer, Lt Bongumusa Manqele, confirmed the incident.

No one has been arrested yet and a case of hijacking was was opened at Pinetown SAPS.

In a separated incident, a security guard was stabbed in Kayalami Road, Westmead. Jackson said four men cut a hole in the wire fence of a business premises and stabbed the security guard in his arm. “ER24 paramedics attended the scene and transported the victim to hospital and the motive of the stabbing is unclear at this stage.”

Manqele said Pinetown SAPS attended the scene and a case of robbery was opened. “The security guard was also tied during the robbery,” he said.
