Thank you, Col Anton Myburgh

Ward 10 councillor, Rick Crouch, motivates for Col Anton Myburg to be appointed as the permanent station commander at Hillcrest SAPS.

EDITOR – On behalf of the residents who reside and work within the Hillcrest SAPS policing district, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Col Anton Myburgh for the excellent work he has done in turning around Hillcrest SAPS.

As the ward councillor for Ward 10, I was getting five to six complaints a week from residents about the lack of service delivery and the general ‘I don’t care’ attitude from many of the officers at Hillcrest SAPS. Since Col Myburgh has been at the helm, those complaints have dropped to zero. I have not had a single complaint since he has been there.

Sure, there are still a few bad apples there, as there would be in any organisation, but thankfully they now seem to be in the minority.

In my profession as a private investigator, I have worked with and known many law enforcement officers both in South Africa and in the United States, and Col Myburgh ranks up there with the best of them.

I hope that when the decision-makers at South African Police Service sit down to make their decision on the new permanent station commander for Hillcrest SAPS, they consider the fact that under the leadership of Col Myburgh, it is the first time in about two decades that Hillcrest SAPS has been functional.

I plead with them to please not put someone in that is going to undo all the good work done in the past few months, but make Col Myburgh the permanent station commander for Hillcrest SAPS – the community and Hillcrest SAPS deserve nothing less.

Councillor Rick Crouch
