Two westville robbers arrested

The men were found in possession of a Samsung TV, two DVD players and a sub-woofer.

TWO men were arrested for housebreaking and theft in Methven Road in Westville North on Tuesday morning.

Westville SAPS communications officer, Cpt Elizabeth Squires, said the Westville community service and neighbourhood watch members were conducting patrols in the Westville North area.

“At around 3am, alarms were going off in the Ashwin, Jupiter Road area. The members were on high alert and saw three men running down Jupiter Road. They ran into the bush in the New Germany Nature Reserve. Members gave chase and were able to confront and arrest two of the men.”1

Squires said the men were found in possession of a Samsung TV, two DVD players and a sub-woofer wrapped in a black bag. After investigation, it was found that the items were stolen from a house in Methven Road.

“The complainant awoke and noticed the dining room curtain open and a glass panel had been removed. He positively identified the items. Two men aged 21 and 27 were arrested and Westville detectives are investigating a case of housebreaking and theft,” she added.

Squires commended the Westville SAPS and neighbourhood watch members for the arrest.
