FRIENDS of Kloof Library Forum will host a talk by Richard Steyn, author of Jan Smuts, Unafraid of Greatness at the Kloof Junior Primary School on Tuesday 1 March at 6pm.
Richard was editor of the Natal Witness from 1974 to 1990 and was awarded a Nieman Fellowship for Journalism at Harvard University in 1985. He was editor-in-chief of The Star newspaper from 1990 to 1995 and was a director of corporate affairs and communications at the Standard Bank from 1996 to 2001.
Richard is currently a writer and book reviewer. Richard’s book is a re-examination of the life and thought of the impressive soldier-statesman Jan Smuts, a man whose contributions and contradictions remain relevant today.
This fascinating and insightful talk will take place at Kloof Junior Primary School in Abelia Road in Kloof.
Tickets cost R50 (or R35 for members of Friends of Kloof Library) and are available from Kloof Library on 031 764 7543. Membership forms to join Friends will be available at the hall. Adams will be selling copies of the book at the talk at a discounted price of R225 each.
