Wanted criminals denied bail

Two of the criminals stood next to Westville detectives in plain clothes, not realising they were police officers.

THREE men have been positively linked to criminal activities in the Durban area after they were arrested at the Pavilion Shopping mall on Thursday, 17 December.

Th three men were denied bail when they appeared in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 28 December.

According to Westville SAPS communications officer, Cpt Elizabeth Squires, Pavilion security spotted a white Polo with three men moving around the parking lot.

“The security officers monitored the men and there were also Westville SAPS detectives, in plain clothes, doing observations at the centre.

Squires said the three men broke into a Hyundai i10 and the driver screamed for help.

The men fled.“One of the men ran into the centre where he was arrested by Pavilion security and the other two walked into a clothing shop and, unbeknown to them, stood next to Westville SAPS plain clothes detectives.

“The victim positively identified them and they were arrested by the Westville detectives.Squires added that the men appeared at the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 21 December and have been linked to hijacking, robberies and theft out of vehicle cases in the Durban area.

The three men will appear again the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court again in court on Tuesday, 12 January.
