A MOTALA Heights man (54) and his girlfriend (50), who were arrested last year for 11 counts including child abuse, rape, compelled rape and sexual assault, are out on bail.
According to relatives of the rape victim, the girlfriend allegedly forced her adopted daughter (11) to have sex with her boyfriend for R300.
The couple appeared in court on Monday, 7 November 2015 and were denied bail for the safety of the child, to appear again in court on 7 January, but that didn’t happen as they were already ‘secretly’ granted bail last year.
The family went to court on 7 January and were sent back home because there was no case.
“A new bail application was made without notifying the family and bail was granted,” said a relative.
According to a relative, bail was granted on the grounds that they will not interfere with the child. “They have moved far away from the child, but this is still not justice,” said a relative.
The next court appearance is on 29 February in the Chatsworth Magistrate’s Court.
