PLATFORM Jazz will once again kick off the new year at the Rhumbelow Theatre in Cunningham Avenue off Bartle Road, Umbilo. Milestones in our lives such as birthdays, engagements, weddings, achievements, certain holidays are celebrated by being with people, having fun, consuming food and drink, dressing up, singing and dancing.

Platform Jazz is set to bring you Jazz party favourites from the gangster and Great Gatsby parties, evergreen tunes from the Swing era, conga line Latin favourites and songs that just celebrate life.

You can expect to hear favourites such as Mac the Knife, Feeling Good, Rum and Coca Cola, Tequila!, Here’s to Life, Let’s Fall in Love, C’est si bon, What a Wonderful World and Happy to name a few.

Join Jeff Judge on the sax, Dunc the Hunc on the trombone, Kirsten The Kitten on the clarinet, Melvin Peters on the keys, Andreas on the bass, Bashful Bruce on the drums, Songbird Shelley McLean and Cathy Hotlips Peacock on the trumpet. Come along and re-live your own party memories as you celebrate life with Platform Jazz in Celebration Time.

Don’t miss these excellent musicians in action who make finger-clicking good music from Friday, 15 to Sunday, 24 January. Tickets are R140 each and are discounted by R20 for pensioners and tables of 8 or more. Food picnic baskets are welcome with braais available should you wish to cook meat and doors open 90 minutes before show for picnic dinner. No alcohol may be brought on to the premises as a bar will be available.
