Police help capture 2.5 metre python

A KwaNgcolosi family find an unexpected visitor in their garden.

TWO Hillcrest police officers were commended for their bravery by capturing a 2.5 metre python from a Maphanga’s homestead in KwaNgcolosi near Hillcrest on Tuesday.

According to Const Ndumiso Manqele, communications officer at Hillcrest SAPS, Const Renee Matthews and Const Raymond Mhlongo received a complaint about a disturbance in the KwaNgcolosi area at about 7.30am.

“Upon arrival the officers spoke to family members who were scared of a ‘big python’ that was seen in the yard. The officers went beyond their duty to rescue the family from the python. They took the snake to Phezulu snake park,” said Manqele.

Hillcrest SAPS, acting station commander, Col Myburgh, commended the officers on their good work.
