One of them had to be stabilised on the scene before being rushed to a nearby hospital.

FOUR men were injured when they were hit by a car while attempting to change a flat tyre of the car they were travelling in. The incident occurred on the M19 Durban-bound near Blair Atholl at around 1am on Saturday, 12 December.

According to Rescue Care’s spokesman, Garrith Jamieson, paramedics arrived on the scene to find two men lying in the emergency lane. One of the men, believed to be 35 years old, had sustained critical injuries and advanced life support paramedics worked to stabilise him on the scene before he was rushed to a nearby hospital.

The remaining three men had suffered minor to moderate injuries and were also stabilised on the scene before being transported to Durban hospitals. The car that hit the men fled the scene before local authorities arrived. The incident will be investigated further.
