A METRO police officer was killed in his home in KwaNgcolosi on Tuesday night.
According to the Hillcrest SAPS communications officer, it is alleged that Muzikayise Innocent Chamane (52) had just fetched his fiancée from work.
“On his arrival at home he noticed a suspicious person who was standing nearby the gate. He then went inside the yard after he had parked his car. He questioned the man.”
Manqele said Chamane was shot several times in the head, on the right arm and torso as he entered his lounge. Chamane was declared dead on scene before paramedics arrived. A case of murder has been opened at the Hillcrest Police Station.
EThekwini Municipality sent condolences to the family of Chamane, who was the Metro Police support services manager. No arrest has been made and the motive of the killing is unknown.
